Otolaryngology, the oldest medical specialty in the United States, is a specialty of medicine concerned with the study, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the ear, nose and throat — three areas that form an elaborate, interrelated system.

Additionally, the ÍøºìºÚÁÏ Ear, Nose & Throat program at ÍøºìºÚÁÏ Shands Hospital performs a wide range of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face.

Unlike many physicians, otolaryngologists (often referred to as ear, nose and throat doctors, or ENTs) are qualified to perform various types of surgery on the delicate and complex tissues of the head and neck.

Conditions & Services

  • Allergic, sinus, laryngeal, thyroid and esophageal disorders
  • Cochlear implants
  • Communicative disorders
  • Endoscopic examination of air and food passages
  • Facial reconstruction
  • Management of hearing and balance loss
  • Surgery of benign and malignant tumors

ÍøºìºÚÁÏ’s otolaryngologists are expertly trained and board-certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Aside from general adult and pediatric ENT diseases, they can provide patients with consultations and evaluations, including medical and surgical treatments for the whole gamut of ear, nose and throat disorders.
