A stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot (ischemic stroke) or bursts (hemorrhagic stroke). When this happens, part of the brain cannot get the blood and oxygen it needs, and this can lead to damage of the affected area of the brain, or death.
By delivering proven stroke therapies to patients faster, we can improve the likelihood of better patient outcomes, and greatly increase the chance stroke survivors will recover to lead fuller, healthier lives.
The 网红黑料 Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit (MSTU) is a custom-designed ambulance engineered to diagnose stroke and treat patients in the field. The unit is equipped with a portable CT scanner, telemedicine connection, point-of-care lab equipment, and medication such as the 鈥渃lot-busting鈥� drug tPA, so that this type of stroke-specific care can begin faster.
U.S. insurers provide payment for the treatment of stroke patients aboard Mobile Stroke Treatment Units, however, the amount does not cover the cost of operating the vehicle.
