About me

Rene Przkora, MD, PhD, MMS, joined the University of Florida faculty as an associate professor in anesthesiology and pain medicine in 2014. Currently, he is the associate division chief and the fellowship director of the multidisciplinary pain medicine fellowship program at UF and the interim associate chair for research in the Department of Anesthesiology. Before arriving at UF, Dr. Przkora spent time at the University of Texas Medical Branch, or UTMB, as an assistant professor in anesthesiology and pain medicine. While there, he also served as the assistant director of the pain medicine fellowship program and the education director of the patient simulation center.

In 1999, Dr. Przkora received a medical degree from the University of Wurzburg in Germany. He then went on to obtain a PhD in 2000 from the University of Bonn in Germany. He received training in general and orthopaedic surgery while in Germany. In 2006, Dr. Przkora finished a two-year, post-doctoral research fellowship at the UTMB. He arrived at UF in 2006 and completed his residency in anesthesiology in 2010. Dr. Przkora was a fellow in pain medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University, and graduated in 2011. He finished his post-doctoral training by receiving a certificate in business administration from the American Society of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Przkora is board-certified in pain medicine and anesthesiology. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and the International Anesthesia Research Society. Dr. Przkora is a junior editor for the American Board of Anesthesiology and a reviewer for various scientific journals. Dr. Przkora has published more than 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and he has obtained independent research funding for studies relating to pain medicine.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of the current hard gelatin capsule formulation of NRD135S.E1 80 mg once daily in the treatment of PDPN when administered for 13 weeks.
