Hello, I'm Keri Markut, a physical therapist at ÍøºìºÚÁÏ. I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology from Indiana University, and subsequently pursued my doctorate of physical therapy at the University of Florida. Furthering my specialization, I completed an orthopaedic residency at ATI Physical Therapy in Greenville, SC.

In 2018, I achieved APTA board certification as an orthopaedic specialist, and in 2022, I obtained certification as a therapeutic pain specialist through the Evidence in Motion program with Purdue University. My clinical focus revolves around treating general orthopaedic musculoskeletal conditions, with a primary emphasis on low back and neck pain, chronic pain, and fibromyalgia. I am particularly interested in providing pain neuroscience education to my patients.

My journey into physical therapy was inspired by my grandfather, who started doing therapy at home. Recognizing my keen interest in health and fitness, he sparked my curiosity about the profession. Investigating further, I found a calling in rehabilitating people back to their normal function.

I bring empathy and compassion to my work, particularly for those dealing with persisting chronic pain. Understanding that traditional medicine and physical therapy alone may not suffice, I am committed to treating the whole person and acknowledging all factors contributing to their pain experience.

My dedication to advancing the field is reflected in my involvement in research projects, such as "Multimodal Prehabilitation to Improve Patient-Reported Outcomes for a Frail Octogenarian undergoing Multilevel Lumbar Spinal Fusion Surgery: A Case Report" and "Pain Phenotyping and Investigation of Outcomes in Physical Therapy: An Exploratory Study in Patients with Low Back Pain."

Outside of work, I find joy in powerlifting, exploring new places to visit family and friends and engaging in outdoor activities like hiking.
