My name is Dr. Juan Vilaro, and I am an associate professor of medicine in the division of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Florida. I received my medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, completing a visiting clerkship in cardiovascular diseases at Mayo Clinic during the same tenure. I completed my residency in internal medicine at the University of Florida, serving as chief resident for the program. I then completed my training at UF, completing cardiology and advance heart failure/transplant cardiology fellowships. I鈥檓 board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine, and my primary clinical interests are the evaluation and management of patients with advanced heart failure syndromes, including optimal patient selection for advanced therapies such as heart transplantation and different forms of mechanical circulatory support. In addition, I am also interested in devising new strategies for reducing hospital admissions in patients with chronic heart failure.
