Hi my name is Biagio Pietra but my patients call me Dr. Pietra or Dr. Bill. I am board-certified in general pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. I lead the pediatric cardiology program here at ÍøºìºÚÁÏ. I attended the University of Florida where I received my bachelor’s and post-baccalaureate degrees. I received my medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. I completed my pediatric internship, pediatric residency and his pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati.

I have spent most of my career as medical director for the pediatric cardiac transplant program and pediatric cardiac mechanical assist program at The Colorado Children’s Hospital, Aurora, where I also was an associate professor in the department of pediatrics, division of cardiology at the University of Colorado, ÍøºìºÚÁÏ Sciences.

I am honored to have received awards from the American Heart Association and National Institutes of ÍøºìºÚÁÏ-R01. I continue to review grants while serving on the National Institutes of ÍøºìºÚÁÏ-National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Study Sections.

I am also a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Transplantation and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. I also have served as a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners.
