About me

My name is Dr. Billings, and I currently serve as an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Florida.

I was inspired to become an ophthalmologist because of the impact vision has on a person’s quality of life. Being able to help people see clearly is incredibly rewarding. Through cataract surgery, I can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, helping people regain their independence, confidence, and a brighter outlook on the world around them.

As an ophthalmologist, I strive to provide my patients with efficient, high-quality care that prioritizes their outcomes and overall well-being. I deliver evidence-based, compassionate treatment while minimizing delays and maximizing effectiveness. Additionally, I am committed to continuous learning and collaboration by embracing innovations that enhance patient care. I aim to ensure that every patient feels heard, respected and confident in the care they receive.

After my undergraduate studies, I earned my medical degree from Florida State University. I went on to complete my residency training at the University of Florida, where I gained extensive experience in complex ophthalmic care and advanced surgical techniques.

My clinical and research interests span several areas within ophthalmology, with a particular focus on advancing surgical outcomes and optimizing patient care. I am actively involved in analyzing data on minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) to better understand its long-term efficacy, ideal patient selection, and how it can be seamlessly integrated with cataract surgery to improve results. Additionally, I am working on projects that evaluate refractive outcomes in cataract surgery, emphasizing enhanced precision through biometry, intraoperative technologies, and intraocular lens (IOL) selection

I am an active member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, where I have contributed peer-reviewed research in glaucoma, ocular inflammation and cataract surgical outcomes.

I am passionate about providing personalized, compassionate care with a focus on restoring and improving vision. I understand how important sight is to daily life and I approach each case with the goal of making a meaningful difference.

Beyond ophthalmology, I enjoy surfing Florida’s coasts, gardening, and keeping up with my favorite sports teams and spending time with my beautiful wife.
