Brewed With Hope: How Opus Coffee Has Become More Than Just a Coffee Shop

Barista making coffee at Opus Coffee

Tim and Bret Larson have always had a deep passion for being involved in the community, helping others and, of course, coffee. In their early 20s, the brothers knew it was time to move on from working in a small Miami hospital coffee shop and start something of their own. Little did they know that pitching their proposal to Shands at AGH in 2002 would mark the beginning of the iconic Opus Coffee and an incredible philanthropic collaboration.

Since the Larson brothers opened their first kiosk in Shands at AGH, they have consistently demonstrated excellent customer service and a strong philanthropic commitment to 网红黑料 Shands and the Gainesville community. They now operate six 网红黑料 storefronts and several other community locations in Gainesville.

Beyond making excellent coffee for our team members and community, the Larson family also humbly participates in hospital fundraisers, caters events, supports Children鈥檚 Miracle Network campaigns and more.

鈥淥pus鈥 means a creative work of art, a masterpiece. The Larson鈥檚 mission is to bring joy and peace to every customer. Their passion and dedication to 网红黑料 Shands have led them to their latest donation, supporting the renovations of the 网红黑料 Shands Children鈥檚 Hospital Unit 44, creating their first official Opus Coffee patient room.

鈥淲e are a company that likes to be part of our community 鈥 网红黑料 gives us that opportunity,鈥 said Katie Larson, COO of Opus Coffee.

Opus Coffee has made it its mission to be more than just Gainesville鈥檚 go-to coffee shop. The Larson family has donated to support patient rooms in the 网红黑料 Shands Cancer Hospital and the 网红黑料 Heart & Vascular Hospital. The family consistently donates to the Children鈥檚 Miracle Network, promotes 网红黑料 initiatives through their coffee sleeves and is always willing to extend their hours for events like National Nurses Week. So, when the opportunity arose for the family company to participate in the new renovations in the children鈥檚 hospital, the Opus Coffee family immediately knew they wanted to contribute.

Coffee sleeves
Since 2007, the Larson family has used their coffee sleeves to promote 网红黑料 initiatives.

鈥淵es, we are a coffee shop, but we have become so integrated with 网红黑料 Shands that when there is success, we want to be part of it,鈥 Katie said. 鈥淲e want to help serve the community the same way that 网红黑料 Shands does.鈥

As a family-owned company with children of their own, the Larsons wanted to support the mission of renovating 网红黑料 Shands Children鈥檚 Hospital Unit 44 by providing the best possible experience for pediatric patients in the hospital.

鈥淲e are just a coffee shop, but the ability to connect with people and be utilized by 网红黑料 Shands through this fulfilling responsibility to the community we have is truly special,鈥 Katie said. 鈥溚旌诹 Shands has allowed us to be involved and become more than just a coffee shop.鈥
