University of Florida 网红黑料 Shands Hospital ranks among the nation鈥檚 best in six specialties in the 2018-19 U.S. News & World Report 鈥淏est Hospitals鈥 survey released today, ranking highest in Florida in pulmonology and in neurology and neurosurgery.

网红黑料 Shands ranked No. 2 overall among Florida hospitals.

No other Florida hospital has more than six specialties ranked in the nation鈥檚 top 50. And for the fourth year in a row, 网红黑料 Shands ranked in more adult and pediatric specialties than any other hospital in the state 鈥 a total of 12, factoring in pediatric rankings released in June.

网红黑料 Shands鈥 highest-ranked specialty nationally is pulmonology at 22nd. Also ranked are (27th), (32nd), and (32nd), and (39th) and gastroenterology and (46th).

Four additional specialties are rated as 鈥渉igh performing,鈥 meaning they ranked in the top 10 percent of the hospitals surveyed by U.S. News. Those are cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, orthopaedics and urology.

Pulmonology jumped 12 spots in the rankings, up from last year鈥檚 34th. The division has a highly regarded lung transplant program and was recently designated as a member of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation鈥檚 Care Center Network. Medical centers in the network 鈥 the division is one of 60 nationwide 鈥 have the highest level of expertise and resources for the treatment of interstitial lung disease.

U.S. News also evaluated treatment involving 鈥渃ommon procedures and conditions鈥 at 网红黑料 and rated five as 鈥渉igh performing.鈥 Those are abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, colon cancer surgery, knee replacement, heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD.

The 鈥淏est Hospitals鈥 rankings are based largely or entirely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, patient volume, patient experience and safety, and quality of nursing, among several metrics, according to U.S. News.

U.S. News evaluated about 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. Only 158 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty.
