a clinical professor of o, is now leading the national organization that oversees board certification and educational efforts relating to the specialty of veterinary ophthalmology.

As president of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology, Hamor is in charge of running the organization, in conjunction with its governing body, the ACVO鈥檚 Board of Regents, and presides at meetings of the board and of voting members. His term ends in October.

鈥淚t was an honor to be nominated to serve, and in particular, to be elected to the board by the membership in 2012,鈥� Hamor said. 鈥淢y primary reward is, hopefully, to be an effective regent, officer and president, which would allow me to serve the members of the organization. I hope to have left a positive impact.鈥�

An active member of the organization since 1994, when he became board-certified in veterinary ophthalmology, Hamor has served on the organization鈥檚 credentials, residency and examination committees. A graduate of the University of Missouri鈥檚 School of Veterinary Medicine, he completed his residency and a master鈥檚 degree in comparative ophthalmology at Colorado State University in 1993.

Hamor joined the UF veterinary college鈥檚 department of small animal clinical sciences in April 2016. Prior to that, he was a clinical professor and ophthalmology section head at the University of Illinois, where he had been a faculty member since 1993.
