UF launches construction of new Clinical and Translational Research Building

Saying that the planned Clinical and Translational Research Building at UF will be a 鈥渁 huge boon to our research efforts and our preventive health activities,鈥 UF President Bernie Machen and other officials broke ground for a new home for research that will speed scientific discoveries to patients.

鈥淔or the first time clinical research infrastructure will be brought together with clinical research programs under one roof,鈥 said David S. Guzick, M.D., Ph.D, senior vice president for health affairs and president of UF&Shands 网红黑料 System.

The $45 million, 120,000-square-foot complex is expected to be completed early in 2013. Barbara Alving, M.D., director of the National Center for Research Resources, National Institutes of 网红黑料, was a special guest at the groundbreaking.

鈥淭he CTRB will foster collaboration learning and discovery across multiple disciplines,鈥 said David R. Nelson, M.D., director of the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute.

Architectural design, engineering, manufacturing and construction is being carried out by Perkins + Will, Moses and Associates, AEI, SEG, Siebein and Associates, Skanska, Brame Architects, Williams-Scotsman and Brentwood Company.

鈥淭his center will really translate to better research and better outcomes for our seniors,鈥 said Marco Pahor, M.D., director of the UF Institute on Aging.
