UF College of Nursing doctoral candidate receives award for genetic responses

University of Florida College of Nursing doctoral candidate Jennifer Dungan, A.R.N.P., M.S.N., has won the 2004 Best Student Submission Award from the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback.

Dungan received the honor at the organization’s 35th annual meeting. Her pilot study explored a possible genetic connection among hypertensive patients whose symptoms responded better to biofeedback interventions.

Though the sample size in Dungan’s study was small, findings suggest there may be a possible genetic predisposition to responsiveness to biobehavioral interventions for patients with high blood pressure.
