UF pediatric endocrinologist appointed to editorial board
University of Florida pediatric endocrinologist Janet H. Silverstein, M.D., has been appointed to several positions with key professional organizations in her field.
Silverstein, a professor and chief of the division of pediatric endocrinology at UF's College of Medicine, has been named to the editorial board of the Journal of Pediatrics. The journal focuses on topics such as preventive health care, treatment of childhood diseases and emergency care for infants and children.
Silverstein also has been selected to serve on the endocrinology sub-board at the American Board of Pediatrics. In addition, she has been chosen to chair the American Diabetes Council of Youth and is spearheading a council committee that is developing standards of care for children who have diabetes.
As chairwoman of the executive committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Silverstein also is working with the National Diabetes Education Program to develop a manual and training materials schools can use for addressing the needs of students with the disease.
