UF surgeon named to leadership positions
University of Florida vascular surgeon Dr. Timothy Flynn has been appointed to three leadership positions in the health-care arena.
Flynn has been named president-elect of the Association of Program Directors in Surgery, the group that comprises the nation’s 260 surgical residency training programs. He will serve a one-year term before assuming the presidency next spring.
He also has been elected as a director of the American Board of Surgery, which oversees the examination leading to board certification in the field. He will serve a six-year term.
In addition, Flynn has been appointed the medical school representative to the Florida Commission on Excellence in ÍøºìºÚÁÏ Care, a committee established by the state Legislature to respond to medical safety issues and to evaluate ways to improve health care for Florida residents.
Flynn is a professor of surgery certified in general surgery, vascular surgery and surgical critical care. He is the program director for the surgery residency and associate dean for graduate medical education at UF’s College of Medicine.
