"Pradaxa Secondary Data Use for Safety and Effectiveness Assessments of Newly Marketed Products"
Presented by Dr. Dorothee Bartels, PhD, SM
Dorothee Bartels is Head of the Corporate Department Global Epidemiology at Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH. She earned her Master degree in Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public ÍøºìºÚÁÏ, and did her PhD at Hannover Medical School, where she was thereafter Head of the Epidemiology Unit. There she still holds a Professorship of Epidemiology and Public ÍøºìºÚÁÏ, is lecturing various courses, and supervising PhD students. She also teaches on a regular basis at Harvard School of Public ÍøºìºÚÁÏ and Peking University, and since 2013 she is Adjunct Professor at McGill University. Most of the year 2016 she spent in the US, interacting with various payers, providers, academic institutions, healthcare organizations, e.g. to assess the value and need of real world data analysis in the US healthcare system. Before joining the pharmaceutical industry in 2008, she specialized in perinatal epidemiology, focusing on improvements in perinatal care. Her major research interest is secondary data analysis, data linkages, and the development of epidemiological methods. In particular the development and improvement of pharmacoepidemiological trainings is close to her heart to ensure scientific valid method application, sound conduct of pharmacoepidemiological studies, and thus, a better understanding of treatments for patients and improvement of public health.
