Public Relations Director, College of Veterinary Medicine
Sarah Carey, M.A., A.P.R., is director of communications at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, a job she has held since 1990. Sarah holds a master’s degree in English with a concentration in creative writing from Florida State University and worked in journalism and for a citrus trade magazine prior to coming to UF. She received her accreditation in public relations from the Florida Public Relations Association in 1995. A Salisbury, North Carolina native, Sarah grew up in Tallahassee and has lived in Florida most of her life. Creative writing and storytelling are her passion. A published poet, her work has appeared in numerous national literary journals. She also is the author of two poetry chapbooks. A board member of the Gainesville Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association, Sarah has received numerous FPRA Image Awards and other awards for her PR efforts on behalf of the college.​ She received the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges' Excellence in Communications Award in 2017.
